At the September workshop you will:

  • Learn how to develop memorable primary and secondary characters that intrigue your readers' attention, and encourage them to read on.
  • Find out how dialogue works best in your narrative, and how to write it so it moves the story along while sounding authentic.
  • Discover why first pages are often called the most important pages in your manuscript, and how to write them so they capture the attention of an agent, editor, and ultimately your reader
  • Network with your peers, get your questions answered, and leave with new tools for your writing toolbox.
  • Learn these craft basics, which can be applied to children’s and adult fiction, nonfiction, and genres of all types

Jo is the author of Still A Work In Progress, Read Between The Lines, Living With Jackie Chan, See You At Harry's, Pearl, Jumping Off Swings, Lessons From A Dead Girl.

Her books have received numerous awards and have also appeared on several state award lists. Jo has a master’s degree in children’s literature and teaches writing at the Mountain View Low-Residency MFA program through Southern New Hampshire University.
